Travelsonabike2 France Tuesday 8th-October-2019

Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is cycle touring in France on Tuesday, 8th-October-2019. Sancerre to Decize. 58 Miles. Short but tough ride today, battling against a strong headwind!

I was thinking of stopping after about 30 miles when I reached Nevers! But after looking at the weather forecast, I saw tomorrow looks worse than today!

Vineyard
Vineyards were all around as I came out of Sancerre this morning

There are heavy showers on and off all day tomorrow, so thought it would be better to push on today. Then, if it is bad tomorrow, I’ll just stop!

Castle
Porte du Croux in Nevers

Stopping early did me a favour, as I managed to find a campsite that was still open.

I’ve passed plenty of campsites in the last few days, but not many have been open, and the ones that were open were just at the wrong time of day!

Lock and cottage
More locks along the canals today

  1. I thought you’d never get to Nevers. Never mind it’s still a good mileage he! he! I know a bloke who could do up that old bicycle. Well the weather here kept blowing my cap off. It must be unsettling camping in this wind. What,s for dinner Grandpa!
